Personal story

What was meant to be six months

Date:April 23, 2026

Fifteen years ago, I wrote on Facebook that I was going to Riga for six months.

It did not end up being six months.

What started as a temporary stay became the beginning of a life and a company that would shape far more than I expected.

I arrived with two backpacks, student debt, no local network, and just enough to cover my bills. It was not a big master plan. It was more a step into something unknown.

The first years were not easy.

There were periods when I chose to pay the team before paying myself. Periods when it would have been easier to give up, move back home, and choose something more predictable. But year by year, the foundation became stronger.

We found our direction. We built a culture that felt right. And we became clearer about what we actually wanted to be good at, including work with WooCommerce webshops and more complex solutions.

Today, Webnorth has grown from building smaller websites into a specialised WordPress agency working with more complex solutions and strong customers and partners, often with a focus on enterprise WordPress and long-term setups.

That is still the part I am most proud of. Not only the growth itself, but what we built around it. The culture. The people. The ambition to do things properly.

Some of the most important decisions in life look random when you make them. Only later do you see what they actually set in motion.

This was one of them.
